Cardiovascular pathology constitutes an important component of the management of neonates in the NICU.

We have several areas of research that the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellows can enroll in during their fellowship.

        1. Significance of the size of Patent Foramen Ovale in premature neonates with large PDA.

        2. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in neonates born to mothers with pre-eclampsia.

        3. Accuracy of Echocardiographic findings in the diagnosis neonates with PPHN.

        4. Accuracy of Echocardiographic findings in determining the position of the tip of arterial and venous catheters.

        5. Incidence of arterial and venous catheter associated clots and casts.

        6. Size and variation in size of Inferior Vena Cava in neonates with Hypovolemia, Hypervolemia, PPHN with severe tricuspid regurgitation or neonates on HFOV.

        7. Echocardiographic findings in Neonates on ECMO.
